NYSED’s Commissioner King is endorsing “Are You A Sexy Bitch?” quiz on the official NYSED website as a test prep resource for students.
I was doing some research this afternoon on NYSEDs website when I stumbled across some info that you need to be aware of. It has come to my attention that NYSED has endorsed explicit material and offensive material on its NYSED website as a resource labelled “Make Test Prep Fun” for students. I am confident that this information might be of interest to parents and educators across the State!
I apologize in advance for the language contained in my blog post below, but the language, material and examples contained in my blog post were taken directly from a link to alltests.com listed on NYSEDs student “Make Test Prep Fun” resource page.
I have provided ample screen shots and evidence to memorialize that the test prep being offered by NYSED on its website consists of “Sexy Bitch” test, “Death” test, “Slut” test and even goes so far as to provide racist and homo phobic slurs, among other things.
All of these materials are endorsed by NYSED under the label “Make Test Prep Fun” located on its website. Again, personally, I find the language and material offensive. However, since its been endorsed by NYSED I feel that it is absolutely appropriate to provide the information and use the language in this post. See the screen shots in my blog at points below for proof.

I contacted and respectfully requested from Governor Cuomo and Regents an explanation. I also contacted and respectfully requested an apology from Commissioner King to the students, parents and educators of the State of New York for this foul incident.
I am working with public education advocacy groups to get an answer as to what happened and why regarding this concern in an effort to prevent another similar incident.
As you will see from discussion to follow, the material contained in the link endorsed by NYSED on its website is offensive and utterly inappropriate. I cannot imagine what excuse NYSED could provide. Either NYSED failed to vet the test prep material or they were hacked despite assurances that their website is “safe”. Regardless, there is simply no excuse for this, in my opinion.
The Regents and Commissioner King will have you believe that the Regents Reform Agenda provides the essential tools and support needed to drive student achievement. They have advanced rhetoric about EngageNY, NYSEDs website and that this new and improved public education system together with its purported Common Core and testing resources will engage and enable students to be college and career ready. These reources have been touted by King in recent weeks with King bragging about how many people have visited the sites to take advantage of these purportedly esteemed materials and resources. King has bragged about the volume of traffic visiting NYSEDs resource pages endlessly beaming with pride.
Now I know why the pages have been recieving so much traffic! They are sexy, rude, offensive and so much fun!
Parents and educators of NY, I would like to introduce you to NYSEDs “Make Tests Fun Prep” resource for kids.
NYSEDs website resource page contains “Make Test Prep Fun” area where your kids can find really super cool, fun test prep kits and quizzes in the totally awesome subject areas of: sexy bitch, mexicano, psycho, whitey and paranoid american retard quizzes. Dont even get me started on the homo quizzes, the fart quizzes and what about the sluttiest of the sluts quiz?
Before you get mad at me for this vile langauge, please accept my apologies and know that these are not my words. This foul language is taken directly from a study resource link provided by NYSED that is located dirsctly on its website. This resource is clearly endorsed by NYSED and the man himself the KING!
Thats right, just next to the holy rhetoric about raising the bar via Common Core, a primer developed by the National Parent Teacher Association® (PTA) in response to the Common Core Standards, the Parents’ Guide to Student Success, http://www.pta.org/4446.htm and a Parent Involvement primer http://www.pta.org/topic_parent_involvement.asp you will find the following “fun test prep” quizzes on NYSEDs pages designed to engage and better equip your child to compete in a global economy in the 21st century.
Indeed, as stated above, Im thinking either one of two things happened to make this possible.
1) Someone at NYSED utterly dropped the ball and did not vet this material (Gee, ya think?)
and/or
2) despite NYSEDs assurances of safety, security and firewall protection (think InBloom and student privacy concerns) NYSED has been hacked and ths link was diverted by a hacker (http://shar.es/9Ijxj come on…..NYSED, were you really hacked yet again???).
Who is to blame for this offensive and embarassing blunder? Cuomo? The Regents? or the Man King himself?
The Regents Reform Agenda has turned in to quite a circus!
I am posting and memorializing this incident to preserve the facts so that they cannot be twisted or misrepresented as NYSED officials have done in the past and continue to do. I want every State official in NYS to know what I found and to read what our children are being exposed to via NYSED endorsed material that exists on their official website.
If NYSED cant even provide sound educational resources or preserve the security and integrity of their own website dont expect me to trust them with my child’s education and PII. There have been too many incidents of a questionable nature. The totality of the circumstances shows me that King’s tenure consists of poor judgment, sloppiness and is rife with errors. What exists under the current admnistration does not amount to sound educational policy in my estimation.
Please feel free to share this blog post with your State and school officials. Despite the foul language contained herein, we need to raise awareness. The material has been provided to our children as a NYSED endorsed study resource for god knows how long therefore, our State officials, school and Regents should not mind reading the material in their emails or on webpages. If its acceptable to NYSED and has been endorsed by NYSED then its good enough for Regents, State officials and school personnel to read and publicize freely as part of its test prep curricula.
Own it, NYSED.
By 11 pm 1/9/24, I can see that NYSED has taken the “Make Test Prep Fun” resource page down but the screen shots prove that the material was listed on NYSEDs website despite the fact that they have sought deactivate the website at this time. Which begs the question, how long has it been there and how many kids were exposed to it before I found it by sheer dumb luck?
A parent just sent me a screen shot of what is located at the bottom of one of the quizzes that was featured and endorsed by NYSED: Porn ads. I perused the link some more. There are disgusting ads – an are you a cannibal advertisement, are you a killer ad and ads for porn. More porn. Nice King!!!! So, 21st century of you!
A direct click from NYSED leads OUR CHILDREN to Bitch tests and “weatherman wakes up to dead man in dog collar.” There was absolutely no reference that anyone was leaving NYSEDs page. These are and were DIRECT LINKS. Refusing to be held accountable is NOT appreciated nor will it be tolerated, NYSED. These are OUR CHILDREN.

I stopped after perusing and copying the below threads off NYSEDs page, but other parents have reported to me just now that they saw and were able to access more questionable quizzes involving “sluttiest of the sluts tests”, “lesbian tests”, “Terrorist” test and there was even an “STD test”, etc. The links have been there undetected for awhile as you can see that people (and by people I am guessing children) have commented, taken the purported “quiz” and viewed them in all their disgusting glory.

As you can see, it is possible that either someone failed to vet the link before it was posted to NYSED as a resource or NYSEDs website got hacked (again) despite assurances from King that the department’s firewalls are up and security measures are strong.
I have not heard back from anyone from State or government with an explanation. The local press is picking up the story so I hope it goes mainstream, there seems to be alot of interest here! This raises a legitimate concern that parents and educators should have about NYSEDs material. I think this good reason for the public and educators to be very weary of NYSED resources and stay away from them. Who is to say that there isnt more of the same that we havent found yet? On the flip, despite assurances about security and firewalls, NYSED got hacked….AGAIN!
They have some explaining to do either way!

I know you have been a tireless advocate in the cause and when push comes to shove, I am confident that we are on the same team, so I respect your input and am happy to provide a reply although I will preface it by saying that I utterly, absolutely and positively must disagree with you on this one. Ill be brief.
Allthetestscom was linked up to NYSEDs student support resource page so that NYSED knew or should have known that the primary audience for those links and resources were going to be used for kids (under age kids). NYSED has an affirmative duty to assure that the links provided to students in the student resource page are age and material appropriate at all times particularly since students would be exposed to them. While 1 year time may not be long in the busines world for a business demographic, this was not the case here.
Your argument presupposes that NYSED is a business and while that standard of care that you advance may apply to businesses, NYSED is NOT a business and in fact, it’s primary obligation is to educate students and part of that involves ethics and morality. NYSED has an affirmative obligation to assure to parents and educators that material that they endorse and provide as a resource on their pages are appropriate at all times.
NYSEDs argument lacks conviction. In the new piece, they claim that it is impossible for them to keep up with the volume of links on their website. Thats no comfort to me. NYSED just built EngageNY – a portal with resources designed to be used by parents and students. If they are arguing that they cannot be held responsible for the content and material contained in the links that they endorse on the official NYSED page, then I would strongly urge parents and educators to immediately stop using these resources because by NYSEds own admission, they simply cannot guarantee that the material will meet sound and good standards for our students.
I have alot more to say, but it will have to wait for another day as its been busy and Im tired.

As a parent and a father, how can you absolve NYSED of permitting minors and children to be exposed to this material? You are forgetting who tha target audience is in arriving at your conclusion that NYSED had no duty to supervise the site and couldnt be expected to. truth be told, the opposite is true. NYSED is in the business of educating minors. Parens patriea. They have an affirmative duty to students.
In closing, I offer you this analogy. NYSED is public education institution. In a nutshell, my blog exposed that NYSED literally endorsed and distributed porn and inappropriate material to minors off their official website. Should this be a crime?

I urge you to think twice about taking this position. Again, NYSED should not be treated like a business….the audience for the student support web page are not unknowns and they are not commodities – they are primarily students and kids.
Anyone who uses the website is going to assume that the links endorsed are safe ones.
NYSED is responsible for educating our students and that includes making sure that the students who rely on resources endorsed by NYSED are kept safe from inappropriate and offensive material from their site.

Let me preface this by admitting, this area is not my expertise. But, Im going to look into it a little more closely.
With regard to the fact that Commissioner King endorsed “Sexy Bitch” Quizzes and offensive material as fun test prep for NY Students on its official student support services website page, isnt that a breach of some sort of duty of care or law that exists to protect minors from inappropriate explicit content online?
Although this article relates to schools, I think we can all agree that NYSED is an institution at the top of the educators/administrators food chain.
In the weblink below, the American Association of School Administrators states that “we, as educators, are required to protect students from inappropriate material whenever we can”. That includes blocking most social networking sites and inappropriate content.
The Children’s Internet Protection Act, or CIPA is in place to protect children from being exposed to harmful material via internt. However, CIPA is much broader than just social networking, and schools and districts must constantly improve their protection strategies to keep students safe from inappropriate materials.
The article states that “as school leaders, we also must be mindful of our legal responsibilities in CIPA and the concept of in loco parentis.”
At the end of the instructional day, the appropriate versus inappropriate dimension relies heavily on the educational leadership and school culture. The concepts surrounding finding the right online resources is one that may involve the entire school community, because parents, staff members and even students want the right resources in their hands for solid education. I would imagine that NYSED, the cream of the educational crop, would be held to the same standard. no? Why would their materials be exempt?
Im not sure about application of the CIPA law as I am not familiar with it offhand, but I have to imagine that if not CIPA, then some law or policy must exist to hold them accountable to assure sound educational policy and resources are made avaialble particularly to children/students. The resource page was titled “Make Test Prep Fun” and was directed to students, many of them under age. NYSED knew or should have known.
In any event, any effort we can to undermine and expose NYSEDs poor practices and lack of credibility should be explored, imo, because those deficits will in turn undermine King help us to challenge common core, APPR and student privacy concerns. NYSED has earned a vote of no confidence from me. So, with all due respect, I have to reject your explanation.

So NYSED is claiming that those kinds of tests weren’t on the site when they linked to it a year ago? I’d like to introduce NYSED to my little friend called Web Archive (http://web.archive.org/). Loading up the “sexy bitch” test and grabbing the URL, we stick it into Web Archive and sure enough that’s been on that site since 2002, much more than one year ago: http://web.archive.org/web/20020614214752/http://www.allthetests.com/quizerstellungneu/dasquiztd.php3?testid=1002012264
So if they claim that this particular test wasn’t on the site when they put the link up there, either they didn’t look well enough or they’re lying about checking the site at all.
